According to John Stamos, he tried to leave ‘Full House’ from the start because he “odiaba esa serie.”

John Stamos spoke candidly about his time on the hit show “Full House,” and his comments may surprise you.

Stamos, who played Jesse on “Full House” from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s, admitted in a recent episode of the interview show “Hot Ones” that he didn’t care for the show at first and even tried to abandon it.

“Odiaba esa serie,” he said, recalling that at first they suggested it be comparable to “Bosom Buddies,” the 1980s short comedy starring Peter Scolari and Tom Hanks, but “with a couple of kids in the background.”

Stamos said that at the time, he felt like “the star” of the show and had a “pez gordo” performance in the early stages of production, so when his coworker Jodie Sweetin, who was just a nia at the time, eclipsed him at the first reading, his ego swelled a little.

“Jodie Sweetin, who plays Stephanie Tanner, reads her lines, and the audience dies of laughter, or grits,” Stamos said, adding, “I couldn’t even hear my lines, they were so far away from her, and I was like a prisoner in my chair.”

He recalled sprinting to the locker room to call his agent and tell him, “sácame of this rotten programme!”

Finally, Stamos said that he decided to try it with the help of his former coworker Bob Saget and a push from his agency.

“I fought against it for a long time before finally saying, ‘What am I doing?’” “It’s a beautiful series built with care and love,” he said, adding that “the central character was love” and that “we were the best representation of a loving family – not a normal family – and it was the new normal.”

“Full House” aired on ABC from 1987 and 1995. The comedy follows Saget’s character, Danny Tanner, a widower who raises his three daughters with the help of Stamos’ “tonne Jesse” Katsopolis and his friend Joey Gladstone, played by Dave Coulier.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, whom Stamos recently said he tried to get rid of from the series in the beginning, played the Tanners’ three daughters with Sweetin and Candace Cameron Bure. Lori Loughlin portrayed Stamos’ wife, Becky.

Stamos also starred in “Fuller House,” Netflix’s reimagining of the beloved series, which premiered in 2016 and lasted five seasons.
