Derek Carr will play in the NFL next season, however his particular place remains unknown. The veteran quarterback’s departure from Las Vegas is a foregone conclusion since the organisation has made it clear that they are moving on after he spent the first nine years of his career with them. The Raiders have officially granted Carr authority to talk with teams interested in trading for him, according to Adam Schefter.
The decision by Las Vegas to enable Carr to interact with interested teams comes with a caveat. According to the source, the interested clubs must have established an agreement on compensation with the Raiders before talking with Carr.
Last summer, the Houston Texans employed the same method to attempt to transfer Deshaun Watson, and they were successful. Before any teams can speak to Watson about possibly joining, the parameters of a trade with the Texans must be agreed upon.
Even with the initial step taken into account, things may move very quickly in this case. Carr’s $40.4 million deal will become guaranteed if he is still on the Raiders roster on February 15, three days after Super Bowl LVII. Carr stated last week that he would not postpone the deadline to support what would soon be his former club, adding, “I don’t feel it would be best for me.”
Carr wore no Raiders gear to Thursday’s Pro Bowl games and even mocked the franchise after winning the precision throwing challenge with the highest score.

“Derek Carr will pique the interest of many people. That is undeniable.” Dave Ziegler, the Raiders’ general manager, talked with SiriusXM NFL radio on Thursday. “In our league, he’s always been a top football player. As I have said, he is a fantastic human being, and we’ll see how things evolve.”
Given the February 15 deadline, it seems like things will heat up quickly. As a consequence, teams may have already made proposals to the Raiders in order to meet with Carr about becoming his next NFL team.
