Aaron Rodgers expected to play next week if rib injury tests out

Aaron Rodgers expected to play next week if rib injury tests out

Aaron Rodgers played through a broken thumb in the Green Bay Packers’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Rodgers left the 40-33 loss with a rib injury, which could keep him out for weeks.

Rodgers wants to play next week against the Chicago Bears, per his postgame press conference.

“If I’m fine tomorrow, I’ll play this weekend,” he told reporters. If there’s no severe structural damage, I’ll go back Wednesday.

Rodgers said he got hit in the ribs and landed on them in the second and third quarters.

Rodgers had trouble breathing and rotating his upper body. “I also wanted to check for a ruptured lung.”

Rodgers’ lung is good, but initial examinations couldn’t rule out broken ribs. The back-to-back NFL MVP will have more tests on Monday.

At 4-8, there’s question about whether Rodgers wants to play with postseason aspirations diminishing. He stated the squad may need to win five games and have support from other teams to make the wild card.

The 38-year-old signal caller wants to be under centre as long as there’s chance.

“As long as we’re mathematically alive, I’d like to be out there,” he remarked.

Matt LaFleur said Rodgers apologised but he didn’t want to hear it.

“This guy is tough. His toughness is unquestionable.”

LaFleur didn’t want to speculate about his quarterback position next week and moving forward, as Jordan Love might earn his first start since Week 9 of the 2021 season – his only start as the 26th overall choice of the 2020 NFL Draft.

LaFleur expects Aaron to play if he’s healthy.

Love promptly found Christian Watson for a 63-yard catch-and-run after replacing Rodgers in the fourth quarter. He finished 6-of-9 for 113 yards.

“I’m not surprised he performed well and showed poise. Everyday. I see it every day, though not everyone agrees “Love, LaFleur said.

Rodgers praised Love’s accomplishments.

Rodgers’ thumb injury felt better this week than last week, so it’s improving as he plays through it.

The Packers’ focus has switched to Rodgers’ latest injury, which may sideline him even if he doesn’t want to.

In the loss, he threw for 140 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
