Truman’s KC Pizza Tavern is now in the “Traylor” period.
The Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift-themed pizza is now available at the Kansas City Chiefs bar at 400 S.E. Sixth St. in Des Moines’ East Village. Swift’s love of breaded chicken tenders and the Chiefs tight end’s pregame snack of French toast topped with strawberries inspired the pizza flavor.
The Chicken and Waffles Pizza (Traylor’s Version) honors the reputed power couple in pop culture. The title alludes to the re-recording of the music megastar’s previous albums, which are titled “Taylor’s Version,” but with an extra r to mash-up her name with Kelce’s first name.
According to Truman’s managing partner Chris Mendenhall, the piece pays homage to the internet’s newest craze.
“We are the town’s Chiefs hangout.” We’re absolutely full an hour and a half, two hours before each game, so why not embrace it?” Mendenhall informed the Register that he is not a Swiftie.
The pizza went on sale just days before Swift’s absence from Kelce’s birthday week game against the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 8 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Swift first saw Kelce in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium on September 24, when the defending Super Bowl winners faced the Chicago Bears. According to a photo that circulated on social media, she was observed posing with admirers alongside a platter with a breaded chicken tender and sides of ketchup and ranch.
Kelce told the lifestyle website Inside Hook in November 2022 that “every pregame meal has been French toast and strawberries since I’ve been on the Chiefs.” He was picked by the NFL franchise in 2013 a decade ago.
Swift’s hunger for flavorful protein is combined with Kelce’s love of sweets and sugar in the pizza.
“I think it’s a fantastic pizza; it’s very filling.” “I’m passionate about it because I came up with it with my kitchen guys,” Mendenhall said. “It may be a little too eccentric and too wild for some people.”
Truman’s homemade crust with a spiced cinnamon cream cheese foundation is topped with breaded chicken tenders, buttermilk waffle chunks, strawberry slices, pineapple chunks, cinnamon, sugar, and mozzarella cheese. Strawberry and pineapple puree is used to glaze the slices.
“You get that very sweet autumn, fall seasonally appropriate flavor,” Mendenhall said of the cream cheese foundation of the pizza.

Bring an entourage if you’re dropping by Truman’s for a Traylor’s Version pie. On Oct. 1, the pop diva’s close friends, including Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, “Queer Eye” star Antoni Porowski, “Game of Thrones” actress Sophie Turner, and Hollywood royalty Hugh Jackman, cheered on the Chiefs against the New York Jets.

Truman’s is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Mondays, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays, 7 a.m. to midnight on Fridays, 8 a.m. to midnight on Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays.
Swifties may follow up their pre-game dinner with popcorn and pop during a screening of “The Eras Tour,” which opens in cinemas across Iowa on Oct. 13. The DVD features footage from the Pennsylvania native’s early August performances at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
